How to Make Cube Steak and Potatoes on a Blackstone
Aunt Lou here.
I’ve actually made this Blackstone Cube Steak and Potatoes a couple of times. The first time I made the cube steaks without a meat press. The second time I made these cube steaks, I did use a meat press. Truth be told, I have always wanted a meat press but haven’t actually bought one until I got the Blackstone. After making meat on the Blackstone without a meat press, I knew I wanted one. While it is possible to make this recipe without the meat press, it will take just a bit longer, and it is not at easy to get the edges and center done at the same time.
This recipe is super simple to make and tastes great. The flavor of the cube steak goes perfectly with the seasoned potatoes. This meal comes together pretty quickly and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in my house. I hope you and your loved ones are as fond of this recipe as we are around here.

Blackstone Cube Steak and Potatoes
Ingredients
Potatoes
- 3 cups frozen diced potatoes thawed
- 1/3 cup diced onion
- Lawry's Seasoned Salt
- vegetable oil
- water
Cube Steak
- 1.25 lbs cube steak (I had 4 cube steaks in my package.)
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- vegetable oil
Instructions
- Preheat one half of your 22" Blackstone to medium heat.
- Put some vegetable oil on the preheated half of the griddle, top with thawed 3 cups frozen diced potatoes and 1/3 cup diced onion.
- Sprinkle potatoes and onions with Lawry's Seasoned Salt and squirt a little water over top.
- Use a long spatula to move your potatoes and onions so that they will all fit under a steaming dome, top with a steaming dome and cook for 10 minutes, gently stirring/flipping the potatoes and onions after about 5 minutes.
- While your potatoes are cooking, preheat the other side of your Blackstone, put your 1/2 cup all purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons ground mustard, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder and 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper in a gallon size baggie, seal and shake until completely combined.
- Put one cube steak in the baggie, seal and shake until the cube steak is completely coated. Place the coated cubed steak on a plate and repeat for the remaining cube steaks and set aside.
- Once the 10 minutes has passed for the potatoes, remove the steaming dome, spread the potatoes out in a single layer on one half of the griddle, reduce heat to medium low and let them cook for an additional 5-10 minutes, gently flipping occasionally until they have reached desired crispness.
- Put vegetable oil on the second half of the griddle, place all of the coated 1.25 lbs cube steak on the griddle, top with an XL griddle press and cook for 4-5 minutes.
- Remove the griddle press, flip the cube steaks (if you have hot spots on your griddle, rotate which place each cube steak is in to help them cook more evenly), replace the griddle press and cook for an additional 3-6 minutes, until the cube steaks have reached desired browning on the outside and have an internal temperature of at least 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
